Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST) held a swearing-in ceremony for the newly elected 2019/2020 Student Association of Meru University (SAMU) leaders. This comes after a well-organized and peaceful student election process held on 11th and 12th April 2019.

The MUST community was introduced to the 2019/2020 SAMU leaders led by the Chairperson Mr. Eric Kimathi and Vice-Chairperson Ms. Mercy AKoth.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Romanus Odhiambo congratulated the newly elected SAMU leaders and thanked all the students for conducting a peaceful and successful student election. Prof. Odhiambo urged the leaders to embrace transformational leadership for positive change. He encouraged the leaders to create a shared vision, develop future leaders, invite innovative ideas, act with integrity and lead by example.

Prof. Odhiambo thanked the outgoing SAMU leaders for working hard, upholding integrity and embracing the in-coming SAMU leadership.

“As transformational leaders, you are required to be energetic, enthusiastic, considerate, empathetic and selfless. Lead others to positive change by servant leadership. I challenge you to uphold excellence in all aspects of life. The University management will continually support you as we all maintain our University as the centre of excellence.” Vice-Chancellor Prof. Romanus Odhiambo.

The Vice-Chancellor urged the student community to respect and support the leaders.

The Ag. Dean of Students and Student Counsellor Mrs. Anne Ntoiti stated the office of the Dean of Students is committed to working closely with the SAMU leaders. The Dean applauded the 2018/2019 outgoing leadership team and offered her blessing to the newly elected team emphasizing on the importance of allowing God to lead the team in all they do.

2019/2020 SAMU Chairperson Mr. Eric Kimathi described his leadership as a government of the people, by the people and for the people. Kimathi assured the MUST community of the team’s unwavering support and dedication.
