Call for Proposals for Faculty Mini-Grants- Innovations in the use of Raspberry P1 in Engineering and Computer Science Teaching Labs.

KENET invites proposals for a mini-grant from engineering and ICT faculty members who wish to experiment with scaling up the use Raspberry PI or equivalent low-cost computers as a student-owned teaching lab for engineering, computer science or Physics courses.

The mini-grant is limited to $10,000 per department / university and will pay for the time required to develop appropriate laboratory exercises based on the Raspberry PI and their use in teaching. Faculty members who teach Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Physics, Computer Science other ICT courses are encouraged to apply for the grant.

The proposal must be less than 10 pages long and must describe how the lab exercises shall be tested in least one semesters and the subsequent analysis of the student learning outcomes. The award will be made by December and project must be completed by July 2015.  An additional travel /accommodation grant shall be provided to grantees who will present their experiences at national or regional  conference in Africa (e.g., the IST Africa 2015 or IEEE Africon).
