Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST) is currently hosting a National Baseball Coaching clinic organized by Kenya Little League at the Main Campus in Nchiru. The coaching clinic began on Monday, August 27, 2018, and will come to a close on Friday, August 31, 2018. The clinic has brought together sixty (60) coaches from various regions across the country including Meru, Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Siaya, Machakos, Kajiado amongst many others. The coaching clinic is being carried out by four (4) American coaches with Raymond Thomas from Washington, the U.S.A. as the team leader. Thomas has over fifty (50) years’ experience in Little League Baseball (LLB). He has been actively involved as a player, coach and administrator in the Little League. He is currently a coach and commissioner for the Little League in Marilyn, Washington.
MUST prides itself on being the only institution in Kenya with a standard baseball diamond. During a courtesy call to the Office of the Vice-Chancellor by the Kenya Little League President George Mahinda and Raymond Thomas, the team leader of the American coaches, Mahinda expressed great appreciation to MUST for the continued support towards baseball. He also appreciated the support from the Principal Secretary, State Department of Sports Development of the Kenya Little League. Thomas noted that Little League Baseball is a great vehicle to build good citizenship, life skills and teamwork amongst players.
