JOB OPPORTUNITIES

Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST) wishes to recruit qualified and dedicated staff to fill the following vacant positions.

INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (ICT) OFFICER – GRADE 12/13 (1 POST)

Applicants should:

  • Be holders of a Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering or related field.
  • Have 6 years relevant experience with at least 4 years’ experience in a similar management role.
  • Show evidence of Implementation of Microsoft Dynamics NAV or any other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System in a setup with a high client support requirement.
  • Demonstrate competence in design and development of relational database queries and reports especially MySQL.
  • Have at least 3 years Proficient experience in C# (Microsoft .NET Framework) and Java.
  • Have experience with data export, import and transformation.
  • Possess sound knowledge of tools and techniques of structured systems analysis and design methodologies, computer security and/or Access control, disaster recovery and business continuity planning, good understanding of LAN/WAN topologies and project management.
  • Have at least 3 years working with Microsoft Dynamics NAV especially in a University Setup will be an added advantage.
  • Have MCSE, CCNP, or a Certification in advanced Routing, Switching or any other relevant industry certification in systems management will be an added advantage.
  • Obtain clearance from the Kenya Revenue Authority, Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) and a valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police Service.

NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR – GRADE 8 (1 POST)

Applicant should:

  • Have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science / Information Technology /Telecommunication Engineering or any other related field.
  • Have at least two years’ experience in a busy ICT environment especially in network administration.
  • Have excellent communication, administrative, and interpersonal skills.
  • Have Knowledge in ERPs (Microsoft Dynamics Nav) and CCNA certifications will be an added advantage.
  • Obtain clearance from the Kenya Revenue Authority, Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) and a valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police Service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installing, configuring and supporting an organization’s Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), Internet devices, systems or a segment of a network system in collaboration with other officers to ensure availability of smooth network services.
  • Troubleshoot networks for the department by use of special network monitoring tools to ensure optimal functioning of the network systems
  • Support users on ICT networks through provision of services to ensure simplicity in consumption of the services.
  • Participate in the upgrade, monitoring and maintenance of network devices by installation and configuration to ensure availability of network services.

DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR – GRADE 8 (1 POST)

Applicant should:

  • Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science / Information Technology or any other related field.
  • Have at least two years’ experience in a busy ICT environment especially in database administration or support.
  • Have excellent communication, administrative, and interpersonal skills.
  • Have experience in ERPs (Microsoft Dynamics Nav).
  • Certification in database administration will be an added advantage
  • Obtain clearance from the Kenya Revenue Authority, Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) and a valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police Service.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Installand upgrade the database server and application tools through regular check-ups for updates to ensure optimal running of the database systems.
  • Participate in the allocation of system storage andplanning future storage requirements for the database system in line with available resources to ensure optimal running of the database systems
  • Modifying the database structure as necessary from information given by the seniors in line with the documented procedures to facilitate successful implementation of systems.
  • Participate in the enrolment of users and maintaining systemsecurity in collaboration with other officers to ensure successful utilization of the systems.
  • Install and upgrade database server and application tools by regular check-ups for optimal performance.
