The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Romanus Odhiambo, held an inaugural meeting with members of staff on August 29, 2018.  In his address, Prof. Odhiambo thanked the Government of Kenya through His Excellency Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta, C.G.H. on his appointment as the Vice-Chancellor of Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST).  He also thanked the Vice-Chancellor search team led by the University’s Chairman of Council, Prof. Dulacha Galgalo.  He also extended his heartfelt appreciation to members of the University Management Board and staff for the warm welcome accorded to him.  Prof. Odhiambo appreciated the former Vice-Chancellor of MUST, Prof. Japhet Magambo, for the hard work which has seen the growth of the University since its inception.  He also thanked Prof. Charity Gichuki for her good work for the period she was the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University.

Prof. Odhiambo also appreciated the Njuri Ncheke Council of elders for their wisdom and foresight in setting aside land for an institution of higher learning.  He appealed to members of staff to serve the University with great dedication.

In his remarks, Prof. Odhiambo urged the members of staff to look to the direction of excellence.  He further added that staff must work hard towards making MUST a World Class University of Excellence in Science, Technology and Innovation.  Prof. Odhiambo said that MUST is unique in the aspect that it is the only Science and Technology University in the region.  He also appreciated the serene location of the University. Members of staff were urged to adhere to the University’s service delivery charter in their work.  The importance of embracing teamwork was also emphasized in order to attain greater heights.
