VISION

To transform Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST) into a center that upholds good morals, lives peacefully with her neighbors and promote the good will of all its members.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

Embracing the diversities of human nature.

To offer remedy in terms of assistance or help to our peers in need of it or those experiencing problems.

To try and prevent situations affecting our peers and society through prediction, expectation and arrest of the particular situations.

Educate our peers and the society about issues that pertain to an upright society

Listen keenly to our peers and provide facilitation as required

Provide a safe environment for peers to share their issues freely

To impart good morals to the society by acting as good role models           

GOVERNANCE

The club is under the patronage of the University Student Counselor, Ms. Ann Ntoiti, who works together with an executive committee comprising of five (5) students including the chairperson, vice-chair, treasurer, secretary general and the organizing secretary. 

SERVICES OFFERED      

  1. Peer counseling

The Student Counselor offers counseling sessions for the students. Members of the peer counseling club are also trained and sensitized to the needs of those around them and can, therefore, respond appropriately to these needs such as alcohol, drug and substance abuse, academic excellence, campus relationships among others. N/B ALL SERVICES ARE OFFERED FOR FREE AND ARE OPEN TO ALL STUDENTS.

  1. Training for interested members

Members of the club receive training upon joining the club. To join the club, you are required to write an application letter addressing it to the Student Counselor. A certificate is issued upon completion of the training.

PAST ACTIVITIES     

We have had the opportunity to organize and execute a variety of events. The following are some of the activities we have undertaken in the recent past.

  1. A beautification activity whereby the students planted flowers along the school pavements
  2. A 2-Day training for the new members presided over by the Student Counselor.
  3. An open hour with all the members which enhanced our unity as a club
  4. Visited and supported the Victor’s Homestead, a children’s home in Isiolo County.

 

UPCOMING ACTIVITIES      

We have a lot of events lined up and look forward to you being part of them. Here are some:

  1. A Family Dinner to meet together as a family and share a meal as we connect.
  2. Certification of the trained members.
  3. Training and certification of the new members.
  4. Mercy Visit.
  5. Beautification of the institution.
