The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Romanus Odhiambo, held an inaugural meeting with students on August 30, 2018.  In his address, Prof. Odhiambo thanked the Government of Kenya through His Excellency Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta, C.G.H. on his appointment as the Vice-Chancellor of Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST).  He also thanked the Vice-Chancellor search team led by the University’s Chairman of Council, Prof. Dulacha Galgalo.  He also extended his heartfelt appreciation to members of the University Management Board and staff for the warm welcome accorded to him.  Prof. Odhiambo appreciated the former Vice-Chancellor of MUST, Prof. Japhet Magambo, for the hard work which has seen the growth of the University since its inception.  He also thanked Prof. Charity Gichuki for her good work for the period she was the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University. Prof. Odhiambo also appreciated the Njuri Ncheke Council of elders for their wisdom and foresight in setting aside land for an institution of higher learning. 

In his address, Prof. Odhiambo welcomed the new students in the School of Nursing.  He congratulated them for having secured a place at the University.  The Vice-chancellor also appreciated the students for conducting peaceful elections.

Prof. Odhiambo said that MUST is unique in the aspect that it is the only Science and Technology University in the region.  He also appreciated the serene location of the University.  Students were encouraged to participate in creative and innovative projects and present them for funding by the University.  Prof. Odhiambo informed students that MUST has the best Innovation centre in the region and urged them to make use of it.

In his closing remarks, the Vice-Chancellor wished the students success in their forthcoming examinations. He urged them to focus on steering MUST to greater heights by being good ambassadors of the University.
