Meru University of Science and Technology sign MOU with Health TV Africa

Meru University on 12th November 2025 signed an MOU with Health TV Africa, representing HTV Academy. The Meru University team was led by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Romanus Odhiambo together with Prof. Simon Thuranira, the DVC ARSA. Other members from MUST were Sharon Koskei the Principal Legal Officer and Dr. Beatrice Owiti: the Head of Department Languages and Linguistics. The HTV team was led by Mr. Gordon Opiyo and other members were Ms. Irene Kwamboka and Ms. Doreen Nyambu.

This then is the beginning of Meru University of Science and Technology becoming a centre for the larger Meru region for offering the German language. The partnership aims at reaching out to over 4000 students to enrol in the German language course. MUST has identified the gap where many Kenyans are interested in becoming global citizens but are limited by lack of the languages that may make this a reality.
The six month program will see students have intense German language learning where classes will be both physical and online. A language lab that enhances quick learning will be set up as well as a German village where students can listen to German news, watch German TV and movies, and read material written in the German language.

This partnership will also see MUST becoming the exam centre for German, as well as the learning centre for all institutions interested in offering German that are close to MUST. HTV, will provide qualified German teachers, the curriculum, as well as the link to German language certification with Österreichisches Sprachdiplom Deutsch (OSD) which is recognised by Germany, Austria and other German speaking countries. The OSD exam centre will be situated in MUST for all institutions that are interested in doing the exam.
We look forward to helping create global citizens through offering a diverse number of languages that are local as well as foreign.
