MUST Students Awarded in an Inter-University Exchange Project
Programme for Developing Human Resource to Contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by Merging African Potential and Japanese Scientific Technology
Utsunomiya University (UU) – Meru University of Science & Technology (MUST)
On Tuesday, 27th September 2022 the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Romanus Odhiambo issued Certificates to Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST) postgraduate students who participated in the second compulsory intensive course held from 1st June to 15th July 2022. The best students in this course were:
Daisy Kiprono – MSc. Molecular Biology
Purity Wanja Jason – MSc. Environmental Science and Natural Resource Management
The Vice-Chancellor also issued certificates to MUST postgraduate students who participated in the student summit held between 8th and 10th March, 2022. The best student presenter from MUST and the top ten among the seven Universities was:
Amwoma Lorraine Moindi – MSc. Food Science
Summary of the Inter-exchange Project
The programme is an exchange project between Utsunomiya University (Japan) and six (6) African Universities among them, Meru University of Science & Technology (Kenya), Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (Kenya), Addis Ababa University (Ethiopia), University of Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (Tanzania) and University of Ghana (Ghana). The key activities for the programme are:
- The Compulsory Intensive Course 2022 “Global Management”
This program aims to develop personnel who can contribute to joint activities between Africa and Japan by understanding the potential of local communities and achieving sustainable development based on the social structure.
- Joint Student Summit
This is a conference where overseas master’s students gather and make presentations about their research in relation to the perspective of SDGs.
- International Web Symposiums
Symposiums are held on the web every two months and are open to the public outside the 7 universities.
- Student exchange programme
This involves short-term and long-term visits to Japan.
