Postgraduate Student Exchange Opportunity at the University of Padova, Italy (Closed)

Background

The Institute of Cement and Concrete, Meru University of Science & Technology (MUST) is a beneficiary of the Erasmus+ KA107 Student and Staff exchange program. It involves mobility of postgraduate students between Meru University of Science & Technology (Kenya) and the University of Padova (Italy) for academic and research.

 

This is to invite applications from postgraduate students at the Institute of Cement and Concrete to carry out part of their research at the University of Padova. The studies undertaken during the mobility period will be recognized as per the signed Erasmus+ KA107 Inter-institutional agreement between the two institutions.

Eligibility

  1. a) Must have Bachelor’s degree in any of the specialization: Chemistry/ Industrial Chemistry/ Analytical Chemistry/ Materials Chemistry / Bachelor of Education Science (with chemistry as a major subject)/ Civil engineering/ Mechanical engineering/ Chemical Engineering/Materials Science or other related areas.
  2. b) Must be a registered student for M.Sc in Cement and Concrete at the Institute of Cement and Concrete, Meru University of Science & Technology.

 

Duration of Scholarship

The successful students will conduct part of their studies at the University of Padova for a period of five months.

 

 

Funding

Travel Costs

The costs of travel to the University of Padova (Italy) during exchange program will be catered for by the scholarship. This will be based on the travel distance per participant [calculated using the distance calculator (https://ec.europa.eu/programmes/erasmus-plus/resources/distance-calculator_en) supported by the European Commission]:

 

100 – 499: 180 EUR per participant

500 – 1999 KM: 275 EUR per participant

2000 – 2999 KM: 360 EUR per participant

3000 – 3999 KM: 530 EUR per participant

4000 – 7999 KM: 820 EUR per participant

or more: 1500 EUR per participant

 

Monthly Stipend

In addition, the successful postgraduate students visiting University of Padova will receive 850 euro per month to cover their subsistence costs.

Post-training requirements
a) Participate in intensive training sessions at University of Padova, Italy.
b) Develop and implement a research dissemination plan for the lessons learned at University Padova, Italy.
c) Submit a manuscript from the research undertaken during the exchange programme.
d) Submit a technical report upon return from Italy.
e) Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives at the Institute of Cement and Concrete.
