Last week was a defining moment for Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST) as our Computer Science students, Team Prime, emerged winners of the Business and Human Rights Hackathon – #BHRHackathon2026, hosted on 24th and 25th September, 2026 at Strathmore University, Nairobi, specifically through iLabAfrica – Strathmore University, under the theme “Code for Dignity, Innovate for Impact.”

Team Pride developed #HakiTrail, a digital solution designed to enable agricultural workers to safely report abuse and connect with appropriate support. The innovative solution empowers workers to report abuse and track grievances through WhatsApp, USSD, and a dedicated web app. A powerful example of technology addressing real-world challenges. Well done, Team Prime! Your innovation is making a sustainable global impact! 

The achievement comes with seed funding, six months of incubation, and internship opportunities at VettedAI- a leading tech platform to take their innovation from an idea to greater sustainable impact.

We are immensely proud of the students’ creativity, research, teamwork, and problem-solving spirit. Their achievement demonstrates the power of technology and innovation in addressing real-world challenges and advancing human dignity.
