Celebrating Decades of Service and Diligence-Salesio Leonard Marangu

Meet Salesio Leonard Marangu alias Kareke. He is a member of the Meru University of Science and Technology family.

Mr. Marangu has diligently served MUST for over 30 years. We are celebrating three decades of a committed man who maintained a friendly and respectful personality.

His career speaks to the power of resilience. The journey dates back to 1984 when Mr. Marangu joined the institution, then known as Meru College of Technology (MECOTECH). He was appointed as a farm worker in January 1985 and rose to become a foreman in the 1990s. He has served in numerous positions, including, Library Assistant, Farm Manager (Acting Capacity) and finally Farm Worker, a position he held from 2009 until retirement.  He has maintained a steady growth process founded on his hard work, commitment and passion for every position he held.

MUST Chancellor, Dr. James Mwangi always encourages us to “Grow Trees” and ensure that work is done after tree planting events. Mr. Marangu has played that crucial role for the University. His supervisor credits him for establishing tree and fruit nurseries and maintaining them. His work will serve generations to come within the University and our communities.

The MUST family is scheduled to plant over 30,000 tree seedlings in October 2022. Mr. Marangu has played a great role in the donation process by One Acre Fund by ensuring proper maintenance of the seedlings as we plan to plant. This symbolizes the mark Mr. Marangu will forever have at MUST.
