Closure of the University Students memo

TO: ALL STUDENTS

Following the confirmation of two more cases of COVID-19 in Kenya,  the government has given a directive for suspension of learning in all institutions.  As a result, the University Senate has approved the closure of Meru University of Science and Technology. Therefore, the University is closed with immediate effect. Students have until  5.p.m  today to vacate the premises except for special cases which will be dealt with as they arise.

The date for reporting back to the institution will be communicated through the university website and by other means as soon as the government gives directives on the same. You are encouraged to continue studying while away and to prepare well for the exams and CATS which will be held when you report back.  You are encouraged to create WhatsApp groups through the class reps as well as use the common class emails to communicate with lecturers to continue with lessons even while away during this lockdown period.  Post graduate students doing research should remain in contact with supervisors to continue the same during the closure.

Students with fee arrears are encouraged to arrange to clear their fee in time so as not to be locked out of sitting for exams.

Thank you

Prof. Romanus Odhiambo, Ph.D

VICE CHANCELLOR
