MUST Hosts ICEA Lion Delegation to Strengthen Strategic Partnership

Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST) today hosted a delegation from ICEA Lion Group led by Chief Executive Officer Catherine Karimi during a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening the long-standing partnership between the two institutions.
The delegation, which also included Ms.Christine Mutahi, Mr. Joseph Njuguna, and Mr. Godfrey Mbwiria, was received on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor by Prof. Hilda Omae, PhD.
The visit provided an opportunity for both parties to review their existing partnership, discuss areas of mutual interest, and explore opportunities for enhanced collaboration. Discussions focused on strengthening ongoing engagements while identifying new initiatives that can contribute to institutional growth and staff welfare.

Speaking during the meeting, Prof. Omae expressed appreciation for ICEA Lion’s continued support of the University, particularly its sponsorship of the 2025 Meru University Mountain Run. She noted that preparations are underway for the 2026 Mountain Run, scheduled for September, which will raise funds for the University’s Students’ Endowment Fund to support needy and deserving students.
Prof. Omae further acknowledged ICEA Lion’s significant role as the fund manager of the University’s staff pension scheme since the establishment of the pension fund, describing the company as a trusted partner committed to supporting the welfare and financial security of University employees.
The meeting also explored opportunities to expand collaboration into new areas, including financial literacy programmes for staff. Such initiatives are expected to enhance financial awareness, investment knowledge, and long-term financial planning among employees.
Both the University and ICEA Lion reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining and strengthening their strategic partnership for mutual benefit. The discussions underscored a shared vision of fostering innovation, promoting staff well-being, and supporting initiatives that positively impact the University community.
