Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST) today signed a landmark Tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) – Meru Chapter and the Meru County Government in a strategic move aimed at strengthening collaboration in innovation, entrepreneurship, research, and socio-economic development.

The signing ceremony, held at the University’s Executive Boardroom, brought together key leaders from the three institutions, underscoring a shared commitment to fostering sustainable development through academia-industry-government partnerships.

The MoU was signed by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Romanus Odhiambo, PhD, the Deputy Governor of Meru County, Ms. Linda Kiome, and the Chairman of KNCCI Meru Chapter, Mr. Joshua Mungania.

Speaking during the event, the leaders reaffirmed their commitment to leveraging the strengths of their respective institutions to promote innovation, enhance skills development, support enterprise growth, and create opportunities that will benefit students, entrepreneurs, businesses, and the wider community.

The partnership is expected to facilitate collaborative research, commercialization of innovations, capacity-building initiatives, internships and industrial linkages, as well as joint programmes that contribute to the economic transformation of Meru County and beyond.

The ceremony also featured presentations on the partnership framework, deliberations on priority areas of collaboration, the official signing of the MoU, and a tour of the University’s innovation facilities, showcasing MUST’s growing contribution to research, technology, and innovation.

The strategic partnership marks a significant milestone in advancing the University’s mission of producing globally competitive graduates while driving regional development through meaningful collaborations with government and industry.
