MUST Teams Up with Dalhousie University for Micro Research Revolution
In a groundbreaking collaboration, Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST) has teamed up with Dalhousie University to embark on a transformative journey in Micro Research. The partnership signifies a monumental leap in research excellence and cross-border academic synergy.
Prof. Romanus Odhiambo’s unwavering commitment to research excellence at Meru University of Science and Technology has been a driving force behind the collaboration with Dalhousie University on Micro Research. Prof. Odhiambo, in his role as the visionary leader of MUST, has championed a culture of academic innovation and inquiry. Under his guidance, the University has taken bold strides to establish itself as a hub for cutting-edge research.
At the forefront of this collaboration is Dr. Patrick Kinyua Kubai, the lead of MUST’s Micro Research team and the Coordinator of Research, Collaboration, and Extension. In a recent briefing with the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Romanus Odhiambo, Dr. Kubai highlighted the significant milestones achieved since the inception of this innovative partnership. Also present during the meeting were other team members; Dr. Cynthia Mugo, Chairperson of the Department of Biological Sciences, David Mwangi, Department of Information Technology and Fridah Mbwiria, Communications Office.
A key focus has been the comprehensive training programs, with over 35 members undergoing an intensive two-week course on Qualitative and Quantitative Research Methods. The program not only honed the skills of faculty members but also included an enlightening session for the University Management Board (UMB). The successful completion and certification of over 96% of participating site members have undoubtedly elevated the standards of research methodology teaching and student supervision at MUST.
Furthermore, the collaboration has seen the formation of four grants teams, with three proposals already submitted to Micro Research International for review in conjunction with Dalhousie University. The issuance of certificates to the faculty marks a tangible testament to the dedication of MUST towards fostering a culture of quality research.
A notable highlight of this partnership is the physical presence of Prof. Roberts Bartollusi from Dalhousie University at the upcoming five-day workshop in February. Prof. Bartollusi’s active involvement underscores the commitment of both institutions to mutual mentorship and engagement in collaborative grants.
Dr. Kubai, appointed as the director to the Micro Research International Advisory Committee (MRAC), expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming workshop, emphasizing the potential for capacity building in Micro Research for all faculty. This, he believes, will lead to greater research outcomes and collaborative grants.
MUST, through this collaboration, reiterates its dedication to cultivating a culture of quality research that transcends the confines of academia. The University envisions research that not only transforms academic landscapes but also positively impacts and changes the lives of the broader community. As Meru University and Dalhousie University continue this journey of innovation, the future promises groundbreaking advancements in Micro Research that will shape the future of academia and beyond.
