Meru University of Science and Technology announced a competition for students in the School of Agriculture and Food Science to apply for the fully funded 8 months scholarship program. In this program, 4 (four) MUST students from that school will study at the Van Hall Larenstein University in the Netherlands for a period which is equivalent to one academic year. For this academic year, MUST is sending one student and in the next academic year the remaining three.

The competition was very strict attracting 35 (thirty-five) entries. In the first phase of the selection, those who did not meet the minimum qualifications were eliminated. In the second phase, the students were ranked from position one to 12 in terms of their overall academic performance over the years. From this, the top five were selected eliminating another seven. The best five were then asked to write a motivation letter showing why they were the best-suited candidates for the scholarship. Through this, Nancy Wairimu Githaiga of Reg No: AG206/112074/23, studying Food Science and Technology emerged the overall winner.

Nancy is now being processed for the new exciting journey to the Netherlands for the upcoming autumn semester. The coordinator of the project Dr. Beatrice Owiti presented Nancy to the Vice chancellor where he gave her words of advice about what to expect at an international university. He also advised her to make the institution proud when she finally goes there.
