The Department of Information and Media Studies at Meru University of Science and Technology successfully hosted a hands-on photography and videography workshop in collaboration with Cameras Africa, providing students with an opportunity to gain practical skills in media production.

The workshop brought together students pursuing media, journalism, and communication studies, offering them exposure to professional photography and videography equipment and techniques used in the media industry. Through live demonstrations and guided practice sessions, participants were able to interact with cameras, microphones, and other essential accessories used in modern media production.

Present during the session were Dr Zach Chiliswa, Chair of the Department of Information and Media Studies, and Dr Mildred Mwendwa, who emphasized the importance of practical learning in preparing students for careers in the dynamic and evolving media landscape.

The workshop provided students with valuable insights into camera operation, audio recording, and visual storytelling, enabling them to better understand how theoretical knowledge gained in class can be applied in real-world media production environments. Participants also had an opportunity to ask questions and engage with facilitators from Cameras Africa, gaining mentorship and professional guidance.
