The 2024/2025 Student Association of Meru University Council is Sworn in

Join us in congratulating the 2024/2025 newly elected Student Association of Meru University (SAMU) Council. The team led by the Chairperson, Mr. Vincent Kipkorir and Vice-Chairperson, Ms. Barbara Mary Simiyu was sworn in on Friday, 8th March, 2024 at our Main campus.
During the swearing in ceremony, MUST Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Romanus Odhiambo appreciated the outgoing student leadership led by former Chairperson, Mr. James Kariuki Wachira for serving the students diligently and working well with the University Management. Prof. Odhiambo congratulated the incoming team and assured them of the Management’s support. Also attending the ceremony was the Registrar, Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. Stephen Karanja, The Chief Returning Officer, Mr. Johnstone Mwenda and the Dean of Students, Dr. George Mugambi.

The students took oath led by Advocate Sharon Koskei. Speaking during the swearing in ceremony, Prof. Odhiambo said, “The University Management is ready, able and willing to work with you for the best interests of our great University. MUST management is devoted to presenting avenues that foster dialogue and positive human connections. The open door policy is our University’s system of ensuring effective and constant communication is achieved between the management and students. As student leaders, you are first and foremost, students. This therefore means that you should present exemplary grades and be champions of hard work as you continue to serve all students in diligence and honesty.”

Speaking during the swearing in ceremony, the SAMU Chairperson, Mr. Kipkorir thanked all students for participating in a peaceful election and giving him the opportunity to serve. He added that he was cognizant that the journey may not be smooth but noted that with the Management and student support, the SAMU team would deliver as expected.

The MUST community empowers our students by creating avenues that foster dialogue and positive human connections. Our students’ democratic right to vote-in their representatives is an integral part of this journey. This continues to cultivate the camaraderie enjoyed within the MUST community. We are proud to have a team that chose unity and peace through this election process.
Congratulations to the 2024/2025 SAMU Leadership team.
