COVID-19 protocols

S/No. PREMISES PROTOCOLS ENFORCEMENT
1. University Gates Temperature checks using thermo guns 1.  Any person with temperature below 37.30C will be allowed in.

2. Any person with a temperature of 37.30C and above will be escorted to the University hospital for further medical screening and management.

Hand washing All individuals entering the University must wash hands with soap and water or sanitize with alcohol based sanitizers.
Face masks 1. All individuals entering and within the University must wear recommended face masks.

2. Face mask must be worn properly, completely covering the face from the bridge of nose to the chin.

2. Lecture Rooms Temperature checks using thermo guns 1. Any person with temperature below 37.30C will be allowed in.

2. Any person with a temperature of 37.30C and above will be escorted to the University hospital for further medical screening and management.

Social Distancing Chairs are arranged on the markings on the lecture room floor at a distance of 1.5m
Group discussions No group discussions or meetings should be held in the University.
Movement within the lecture rooms No movement within the lecture rooms.

2. Chairs are arranged on the markings on the library floor at a distance of 1.5m.

6. Cafeteria Temperature checks using thermo guns 1. Any person with temperature below 37.30C will be allowed in.

2. Any person with a temperature of 37.30C and above will be directed to the University hospital for further medical screening and management.

Hand washing All individuals entering the Cafeteria must wash hands with soap and water or sanitize with alcohol based sanitizers.

Social Distancing 1. Students should observe 1.5m while queuing to pay for food.

2. Sitting distance while eating should be 1.5m

7. Offices Temperature checks using thermo guns 1. Any person with temperature below 37.30C will be allowed in.

2. Any person with a temperature of 37.30C and above will be directed to the University hospital for further medical screening and management

Hand washing All individuals entering the offices must wash hands with soap and water or sanitize with alcohol based sanitizers.
Face masks 1. All individuals entering and within the University must wear recommended face masks.

2. Face mask must be worn properly, completely covering the face from the bridge of nose to the chin

Social Distancing 1. In every office staff must sit at least 1.5m apart

2. No movement from one office to another

3. No circulation of hard copy documents

4. Regular sanitizing of pens and registers

5. Keys management to be handled by the officer distributing the keys i.e recording out and in

6. Students must call and make appointments before visiting an office.
8. Hospital Temperature checks using thermo guns 1. All hospital protocols will be adhered to including the Ministry of Health guidelines.

2. Any person with temperature below 37.30C will be allowed in.

3. Any person with a temperature of 37.30C and above will undergo a medical screening and further management.

Social Distancing 1. Students and staff are encouraged to call the hospital first in case of a suspected case or in case of an emergency.

2. Only those seeking health services will be allowed in.

10. Recreation facilities Sports 1. Contact games and indoor games have been temporarily suspended e.g basketball, volleyball, rugby etc

2. Individualized games such as jogging, walking,

running, yoga etc will be allowed subject to observing social distancing.

11. Worship facilities Government of Kenya guidelines on places of worship shall be strictly adhered to.
12. University transport The Government of Kenya guidelines on use of institutions transport shall be adhered to by both staff and students
