MUST Council Chair Holds Strategic Meeting with University Chancellor

The Chair of Council of Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST), Prof. James Ireri Kanya Phd, today paid a courtesy call to the University Chancellor, Dr. Peter Ndegwa, who also serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Safaricom. The meeting marked an important engagement aimed at strengthening the University’s strategic partnerships and advancing its institutional development agenda.

Prof. Ireri was accompanied by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Romanus Odhiambo PhD, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (ArSA), Prof. Simon Thuranira PhD, together with other members of the University staff. The visit provided an opportunity for the University leadership to brief the Chancellor on key milestones and ongoing initiatives shaping the growth and progress of MUST.

Among the key issues discussed was the current status and progress of the University, highlighting achievements made in academic excellence, research, innovation, and infrastructure development. The meeting also reviewed updates on the CiSED Centre, a major project fully funded by the M-Pesa Foundation, which is expected to play a significant role in enhancing innovation and enterprise development at the University.

Preparations for the upcoming MUSTIC Conference and the MUST Mountain Run were also discussed, with the University leadership outlining the significance of these events in promoting research, innovation, and community engagement. Additionally, deliberations were held on the MUST Endowment Fund as part of efforts to strengthen sustainable resource mobilization for the University’s future growth.

The meeting further explored additional areas of collaboration between MUST and Safaricom, reaffirming a shared commitment to fostering innovation, education, and transformative impact in society.
