Meru University of Science and Technology Designated as Clinical Officers Council Certification Examination Centre

Meru University of Science and Technology has achieved a significant milestone after being officially designated as a Certification Examination Centre by the Clinical Officers Council. This recognition marks a major step in strengthening the University’s role in advancing clinical medicine training in Kenya.

For over nine years, the University has served as a training centre for the Bachelor of Science in Clinical Medicine programme, consistently producing competent and highly skilled clinicians who continue to make meaningful contributions in healthcare both locally and globally.

The designation was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MUST and the Clinical Officers Council, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Romanus Odhiambo, PhD. The agreement cements MUST’s role as a Certification Examination Centre while strengthening collaboration in the areas of training, assessment, and professional development for Clinical Medicine students.

Speaking on the milestone, the University reaffirmed its commitment to excellence in medical education and training, emphasizing the importance of producing healthcare professionals equipped to address emerging health challenges.

This achievement is expected to enhance the quality of clinical medicine education at MUST and align its training programmes with Kenya’s national healthcare priorities, including the Universal Health Coverage agenda and the country’s Kenya Vision 2030 development goals.
