Must Hosts The 2020 KUSA National Play-Offs
This past week, Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST) played host to the Kenya Universities Sports Association (KUSA) National play-offs. The sports event brought together 28 Universities from around Kenya and recorded the highest number of participants in history of KUSA indoor games; 1200 students. Sports is truly, a universal language.
The MUST family is proud of our sports champions. Congratulations to the Women’s rugby team (Champions), Men’s Rugby team (2nd position), Women’s Dart team (2nd position), Roll ball Women & Men (3rd Position) and Women’s swimming team (3rd Position).

The event’s theme: ‘National Cohesion through Sports’ shone through the two-day event with participants from various parts of this Great Nation of Kenya engaging, competing, learning from one another and cheering each other on.
The students competed in chess, scrabble, darts, table tennis, badminton, taekwondo, karate, rugby, tennis, basketball and swimming.
Speaking at the Awards Ceremony on Sunday, the Ag. Deputy Vice-Chancellor (ASA) Prof. Simon Thuranira appreciated the Kenya Universities Sports Association leadership for requesting Meru University to be the host of the 2020 National Indoor games. Prof. Thuranira congratulated all participants for the great effort and thanked all sponsor companies for supporting the great sporting event. He assured KUSA officials of unwavering support from the MUST community in hosting similar events in the future.

MUST Head of Sports, Mr. Timothy Ramara applauded all participants for choosing a path in sports and challenged all students to take up a sport, citing this as a necessary tool for wellbeing and holistic development. Mr. Ramara thanked the KUSA officials and MUST staff for planning and executing the National Indoor games.

The event, through Meru University of Science and Technology secured the support of companies, collaborating to make the event a success.
