Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST) has been working in partnership with University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland. So far, the two institutions have collaborated in grant writing workshops, publications, Erasmus exchange programme and supervision of postgraduate students among others.
Recently, the two institutions initiated joint monthly virtual research conversations meetings via Zoom. The aim of these meetings is to enhance knowledge and skills in conducting research that can address problems identified in our communities.
The second joint meeting was held on 21/04/2020 where a total of 16 participants from various disciplines shared research experiences on grant writing. Key take away points from the session were; steps to preparing a fundable proposal, collaboration across disciplines, institutions and nations as well as acknowledging the importance of learning from feedback of proposal reviewers. This was also coupled with lessons learnt from any unsuccessful grant applications.
Members of staff are invited to the next scheduled Research conversation Zoom meeting to be held on 19/05/2020 at 4.00 PM Kenyan time. For more information on this please get in touch with Caroline Karani on ckarani@must.ac.ke
