The 15th Presidential Address
Following the 15th Presidential address to the Nation of Kenya on covid-19 pandemic the President directed a shift from physical learning to online learning except for medical courses and working from home except for critical and essential services.
In this regard a Special Senate meeting held on 29th March 2021 made the following resolutions:
i) That teaching and learning in the University will continue as per the circulated
semester dates of March – July 2021.
ii) That teaching will be conducted online in Main Campus,Town Campus and Marimba Learning Center for all programmes in the current March – July 2021.
iii) That the following programs will be offered through physical learning according to presidential directives:
1. BSc. Nursing Y1S2,Y3S3 and Y1S1 (mature entry).
2. BSc. Clinical Medicine and Community Health – KUCCPS (Y1S2,Y2S2, Y3S1, and Y4S1) MATURE (Y1S2.Y2S1,Y2S2 AND Y2S3)
3. BSc. Medical Laboratory Sciences Y1S2
4. BSc. Medical Microbiology Y1S2
iv) That all students residing in the University hostels are required to vacate the premises by Wednesday, 31st March 2021, 4.00 pm.
v) That the University eateries and catering services have been closed indefinitely until further notice.
vi) That the Directorate of ODeL will issue a schedule for capacity building on elearning for both staff and students.
vii) That the Office of the University Vice Chancellor upon request will issue a travel permit to both staff and students travelling in and out of the locked down counties.
viii) That any student living around the University will be allowed into the University to access Wi-Fi services between 7.00 am and 7.00 pm every day.
ix) That students in session (March-July 2021 Semester) will be provided with Safaricom internet data bundles provided one has paid half of all fees payable within a semester by the end of third week.
x) The University shall be providing students with monthly data bundles for learning purposes. These bundles will only be used for the sites allowed by the University for learning purposes. Therefore, each student is required to:
1. Register for the new semester.
2. Update his/her contacts and provide Admissions office with the active SAFARICOM number.
xi) That there shall be one member of staff in each academic department working from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm on working days as arranged by the departmental head to handle critical matters.
