THE 2020/2021 SAMU TEAM

Join us in congratulating the 2020/2021 newly elected Student Association of Meru University (SAMU) leadership. The team led by the Chairperson, Amos Rugut (School of Nursing) and Vice-Chair, Maurine Wambui (School of Pure and Applied Sciences) was sworn in on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at our main campus.

The SAMU Congress team consists of:

  • Chairperson, Amos Rugut (School of Nursing)
  • Vice-Chairperson, Maurine Wambui (School of Pure and Applied Sciences)
  • Secretary General, Irungu Francis (School of Education)
  • Finance Secretary, Sharon Chesang (School of Health Sciences)
  • Academic and External Affairs Secretary, Owuor Bevon Otieno (School of Agriculture and Food Science)
  • Sports, Gender and Social Welfare, Oliver Egesa (School of Nursing)
  • Health, Catering and Accommodation Secretary, Kenneth Owino (School of Nursing)

During the swearing-in ceremony, MUST Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Romanus Odhiambo thanked the outgoing student leadership led by former Chairperson, Eric Kimathi for serving the students and working well with the University Management. Prof. Odhiambo congratulated the incoming team and assured them of the Management’s support.

Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony, the SAMU Chairperson, Amos Rugut thanked all students for participating in a peaceful election. He assured fellow students of his team’s unwavering support.

In a community made up of diverse cultures brought together by the main aim to acquire quality education, the MUST community empowers our students by creating avenues that foster dialogue, debates and positive human connections. Our students’ democratic right to vote in their representatives is an integral part of this journey. This continues to cultivate the camaraderie enjoyed within the MUST community. We are proud to house a team that chose unity and peace through this election process.

To the incoming student leadership led by the Chairperson, Amos Rugut and Vice-Chairperson, Maureen Wambui, let us work together to enhance the lives of MUST students and carry forward our main mission to ensure provision of Quality and Holistic education. I am proud of you and your entire team for choosing to serve our University.” MUST Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Odhiambo said during the swearing-in ceremony.
