Cultivating Global Connections
On 11th September, 2023, Meru University of Science and Technology hosted a delegation of esteemed visitors from Utsunomiya University, Japan. The visiting delegation included prominent members who are deeply involved in the Inter-University Exchange project: “Programme for Developing Human Resources to Contribute to SDGs by Merging African Potential and Japanese Scientific Technology.”
The visitors were received by our Vice Chancellor Professor Romanus Odhiambo together with MUST faculty staff involved in the Inter-University Exchange Program.
The Inter-University Exchange project commenced on 24th March 2021 with participants from Utsunomiya University (Japan) and six (6) African Universities. Thus far the program has conducted three (3) virtual Global Management Courses, two (2) Joint Student summits, and ten (10) Web symposia in which our students and faculty have participated. In addition, we have had Inter-University exchange of faculty and staff. During the visit, the two Universities agreed on enhancing the existing patnershership through Joint Education and Research.

Global Management Course top students: Ms. Elsa Gatwiri [2021], Ms. Daisy Kiprono [2022], and Ms. Emmah Mwende [2023]. Ms. Emmah Mwende, a second-year Master’s degree student in Sanitation will embark on a short-term stay at Utsunomiya University, Japan.
Ms. Daisy Kiprono [MSc. Molecular Biology Student-MUST], carrying out her research work at Utsunomiya University, Japan. Daisy was awarded a one-year scholarship to study and complete her research project at Utsunomiya University, Japan, owing to her outstanding performance in the Global Management course in 2022.
