Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST) students to spend five (5) months at Van Hall Larenstein, University of Applied Science in the Netherlands

 

BACKGROUND

Meru University of Science and Technology in conjunction with Van Hall Larenstein, University of Applied Science in the Netherlands are implementing a project on Food Waste Reduction and Food Quality Living LAB (FORQLAB) in Avocado value chain in Kenya. The Project team include: Prof. Romanus Odhiambo, Prof. Peter Masinde, Dr. Eric Mworia and Dr. Beatrice Owiti. Part of the project’s objective is to support five (5) postgraduate students in related programmes to undertake their research and participate in students exchange programme between the two universities. The 5 students selected will also take part in the project’s research activities from May 2023.

 

HOW DOES IT WORK?

A European Union-funded programme (Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility (ICM)) supports the mobility of students and staff between Europe and the rest of the world. In the current call for applications, funding is available to support five (5) Masters students from Meru University of Science and Technology to spend five (5) months on an exchange program at Van Hall Larenstein, University of Applied Science in the Netherlands starting May 2024.

 

ERASMUS+ ICM SCHOLARSHIP RATES

Successful applicants will be awarded a grant which includes:

✔ A stipend of €850 per month for the duration of the exchange;

✔ €820 travel allowance to cover return flights from Kenya to the Netherlands

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

✔ Students pursuing MSc Horticulture, MSc Agriculture, MSc Food Science and Technology, MSc in Business or related programmes

✔ Must be willing to participate in FORQLAB research activities

✔ Students must have completed coursework for their Masters degree programme

✔ Available to travel to Van Hall Larenstein, University of Applied Science in the Netherlands in May 2024 for 5 months

✔ The proposed mobility period must fit into the student’s Masters programme of study
