Celebrating our 7th Graduation Ceremony
“Celebrating Leadership in Technology and Innovation for Sustainable Development” welcome to our 7th Graduation Ceremony (November 29, 2019) at our main campus in Meru County, Kenya.
This day marks a celebration of unified strength geared towards one goal; academic achievement. The Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST) Community came together to celebrate the Class of 2019. Dedication and sacrifice is part of what it has taken for our graduates to attain their success.
Meru University of Science and Technology Chancellor, Dr. James Mwangi speaking during the auspicious ceremony urged the graduating Class of 2019 to remember that success in the labour industry today is about being smart. He stated that precisely being smart is meticulously planning and selecting priorities in whatever one wants to do and doing it passionately.
“Creativity and Innovation is the hallmark of being smart coupled with harnessing resources and exploiting opportunities at the earliest moment. The end result is being able to maximize the value of your return because of intense concentration and deep engagement.” Dr. James Mwangi
MUST Chancellor, highlighted that Digital Economy is rapidly taking over the traditional economy in our country.
“It is important to note that success of the digital economy heavily depends on investment in research and innovation. In embracing digital economy, the Government has rolled out the Ajira programme. This programme avails exciting opportunities and challenges to science and technology universities. I congratulate Meru University of Science and Technology for being at the forefront in this end.” Dr. James Mwangi
The Chancellor implored graduands to familiarize themselves with Ajira programme and to take advantage of the employment opportunities available.”

“Our core business as a University is quality university education, training and research. On this front, Meru University of Science and Technology is leading. We have several groundbreaking research projects presenting output that is relevant to the society, especially in meeting the big 4 agenda.
Some examples are: the research on effective management of human faecal waste in a manner that promotes the agenda of good health. We also have the sensor-based irrigation system as well as innovations in smart farming technology that lead to achievement of the agenda on food sustainability. On Manufacturing, students have been trained in Computer Assembly, Software installation, Backend programming, Printed Circuit Board Programming, fabrication and programming of FABL, flip mouse devices and Camera Mouse for use in the collaborating Institutions for persons with disability. These are just but a few examples of our research output, there are many more that are ongoing. We also continue to allocate funds for supporting internal researchers. We have also won funds for research both locally and internationally. As management, we are also well aware of the push towards the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) and have put in place measures to have our faculty work towards creating the courses tailored for the same.” Prof. Romanus Odhiambo, Ph.D
